Oscar-winning actress and the How I Met You Mother were Sony's top picks to costar in a new comedy about a couple's search to track down their homemade X-rated video.
"That would be our dream cast but it's just very, very early in the process," the Muppets star told us last night at the Fulfillment Fund Stars Gala honoring Disney boss Rich Ross and Madeline and Tom Sherak in Beverly Hills. "You know how Hollywood goes. They report things very early. Right now, we are just working on a script."
Segel also dismissed reports that Muppets veterans were unhappy with his upcoming take on the legendary puppet franchise.
"I actually think that those comments were made before they'd seen the film," he said. "And they've since seen the movie and everyone's walked out happy.
"We just did our first few test screenings and a few people said it was their favorite Muppet movie they've ever seen," Segel continued. "I don't aim for that but my goal was for it to be something that honored the legacy of those first three Muppet movies and The Muppet Show."
